About Me:

When I’m not working as a psychologist, my favourite and most important hat to wear is that of mom to my two beautiful boys, who I absolutely adore. They truly are my world. Being their mom has been the most meaningful role in my life; they’ve been my greatest teachers, helping me grow in patience, perspective, and compassion. They’ve shaped not only who I am as a person, but also who I am as a psychologist. As a family, we love being outdoors, whether it’s exploring new trails, hanging out at the river or spending time together at our family cabin. Those quiet, connected moments are the ones I cherish most. Creativity also plays a big role in who I am. Outside of work and family, I am also a photographer and find so much joy in capturing life’s special moments. I also love singing and you’ll often find me belting out Broadway songs in the car, and more likely than not, you’ll likely catch me humming (or singing) at some point in our sessions together. Family, creativity, and connection are at the centre of everything I do and they continue to inspire and ground me every day.

Background / Experience:

As a child psychologist, my approach is grounded in a strength-based, attachment focused lens. I believe in honouring each child’s innate capabilities and resilience, and I see it as a true privilege to walk alongside children and families in their unique journeys and needs. My approach is gentle, playful, and relational and is centered on building safety, trust, and connection.

I utilize an integrative, play-based therapy approach that views each child as capable where I follow the child’s lead and respond to their unique strengths, needs and ways of expressing themselves. I draw from multiple play-based theoretical orientations, including Adlerian, Gestalt and child-centred play therapy. I also utilize Theraplay to support in strengthening attachment and help children and parents develop a more secure and positive relationship. In addition to my play-based approach, I incorporate evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), emotion-focused therapy (EFT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

For the past four years, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a private practice setting, where I’ve deepened my experience in supporting children and families in a clinical environment. Earlier in my career, I worked at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital in the Autism Research Centre, where I received specialized training in autism assessments. While I have not recently offered assessments in this area, I plan to complete retraining and anticipate offering autism diagnostic services within the next 6-12 months. I also bring experience from my time working in an early childhood education school-based program, which further enriched my understanding of collaborative care in an educational setting.
